Principal's Message
Roosevelt Elementary School will welcome Casceila Miller as Principal of Roosevelt Elementary School on July 1, 2025, pending school board approval.
Mrs. Miller has served as an Assistant Principal at Lewis & Clark Middle School for the last three years. Prior to her time in Yakima, she worked for the Thorp School District, where she spent eight years as a fifth grade teacher and instructional lead for outdoor education. Prior to her time in Thorp, she was a fifth and sixth grade teacher in the Wahluke School District. She also served as a Reading Interventionist with Seattle Public Schools.
Mrs. Miller earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 2005 from Central Washington University, a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction in 2013 from Western Governors University, and her Principal Certification from Eastern Washington University in 2022. She has also received a National Board Certificate in Early and Middle Childhood English-Language Arts.
Mrs. Miller is passionate about providing the best possible education for our students, particularly surrounding the structuring and successful functioning of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and promoting positive behavior. She is highly accomplished in increasing student achievement, particularly in English-Language Arts. She believes in the potential of every child and building opportunities for all students.
Mrs. Miller looks forward to getting to know the students, staff, and families at Roosevelt Elementary School and forming positive relationships.
Casceila has lived mostly in Central Washington since 2001 and moved to Yakima in 2022. She loves exploring the region with her husband and two children. She is an avid runner and can often be found somewhere in the wild on the weekends with her running shoes on. She also loves hiking and gardening, and just about anything that takes her outside.
